In the name of
the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit,
generations are lost and a culture abandoned—
in His name.
A language discarded and traditions pushed aside
for fear of those who’ve come to spread His word
to the savages of the plains.
Forgotten names of
the Mothers, Daughters, and the Great Spirit
We have abandoned the ways of Christ in our relentless pursuit
to bring His never ending love to others.
“The wicked prowl on every side when vileness is exalted among the sons of men,”
so says the 12th Psalm,
and yet we pretend that was never us,
that was never us.
As the Chasing Hawks, Brother of Alls and Long Crows file into their pews on Sunday,
I can’t help but wonder: how can they forgive us?
How can we forgive ourselves
as we each genuflect to Jesus on the cross
who died for our sins and waits in eternity to tell us how.
